Winter's Journey
David Pisaro, the tenor from Buffalo, USA, walked the UK’s West to East Coast route in the bitter cold of January 2005, battling snow, wind and rain over high altitudes in isolation. In contrast, his accompanist and Haileybury’s Director of Music, Quentin Thomas, enjoyed the luxuries of car, warm tea-rooms and comfortable hotels. Both would meet every evening over 13 days to give a performance of Schubert’s Winter’s Journey.
A fascinating documentary was made, and David’s insights into this incredible song-cycle – by one of the Romantic era’s greatest composers – are simply not to be missed. Come and join us on Friday evening, 26 January, at 7.30pm in Bradby.
All welcome. No tickets required
