Sixth Form and Fifths pupils enjoy a week of debating in Model United Nations in the Hague
A contingent of 12 Haileybury pupils from Sixth Form and Fifths travelled to the Hague last week for the THIMUN 55th Conference, a simulation of the United Nations that promotes solution-oriented discussions amongst young global citizens.
The Haileybury delegation represented Cuba in negotiations and was assigned the question of ‘Protecting journalists and media workers’ freedom of expression in time of war’. The pupils excelled in their research, lobbying and debating and, as a result, succeeded in seeing their resolution passed.
In between intensive negotiations, the pupils enjoyed some sightseeing in the Hague and some much-deserved fun at VR Amaze, a virtual reality experience centre.
The pupils are now looking forward to the Haileybury MUN Conference, which will take place from 17 to 19 March 2023 at Haileybury.
