New cricket captain
Jon Melvill of Bartle Frere, who has recently been appointed as captain of cricket for the 2003 season, has been invited to Lord’s to participate in a Captaincy Seminar in March.
"Jon has a cool head and will set a good example to what will certainly be a young 1st XI this year," says Mr Carl Igolen-Robinson, Master in charge of cricket.
Jon distinguished himself last season by bowling 50 maidens from his 176 overs and taking 27 wickets, including a match-winning 5 for 21 against Cheltenham during the festival.
