Music department puts on two major concerts
The Haileybury Music Department is putting on two major concerts over the next couple of weeks, including a contribution to this year’s national ‘Hospices in Harmony’ project.
‘Show Boat’ & Spirituals, on Saturday 4 October, will see money raised for the local Isabel Hospice through a vibrant programme featuring the best of the music from the Broadway musical, Show Boat, alongside contemporary arrangements of popular spirituals and gospel songs. From Ol’ Man River to Can’t Help Lovin’ Dat Man, this promises to be an evening full of vocal favourites.
The concert will feature the Chapel Choir, Choral Society & Symphony Orchestra, with David Kossoff as narrator, Peter Davis conducting and Amy Thomas, Oliver Lepage-Dean & Ben Rowe as soloists.
Tickets are required (at discounted prices for Haileybury parents) for the concert, which will start at 7.30pm in Big School.
Friday 10 October will see the Celebrity Concert: Britten Sinfonia in the Haileybury Chapel.
One of the country’s top young chamber orchestras will play an exciting programme, ranging from traditional favourites by Bach and Copland to modern classics by Stravinsky and Holloway.
All welcome to attend. Contact the School Office on 01992 706205 for tickets.
