Lower School 2 Win Lea Valley Hockey
Our Lower School 2 Girls’ Hockey teams excelled themselves on Tuesday (19 March), winning both the A and B team Lea Valley Hockey Tournaments and conceding only one goal between them in nine matches.
The A team started well with a 2-0 win over Simon Balle – both goals scored by Siena Milner. The second game, against Broxbourne, was clinched by a devastating shot from Emily Hughes, after which the girls treated the John Warner team to a 5-0 hammering with goals from Rosie Walker, Sophie Maytum, Chloe Landymore and Siena Milner.
The only draw recorded by either team came next in a battle with a talented Presdales side, before a resounding victory against Turnford won them the trophy. The player of the tournament was Sophie Maytum, but the result is testament to the hard work and commitment of the whole team.
The B team beat Broxbourne B 2-0, Broxbourne C 2-0, John Warner 3-0 and drew with Presdales 0-0. Katy Price, Jess Hine, Lucy Templeton-Knight and Charlotte Horwood all got on the score-sheet thanks to tireless midfield support from Lucy White, while Molly Muzzlewhite and Erica Wilson were so tight in defence that Harriet Prout in goal had only one ‘touch’ in all four matches – an outstanding performance.
