Lower School - Years 7 & 8
An environment based on the values of ambition, courage, respect and integrity.
Here in the Lower School we have developed a community where our values of ambition, courage, respect and integrity are central to everything the staff and pupils do.
The pupils’ academic output is key and so we offer a broad and balanced curriculum focusing on acquiring the inquiry and practical skills required for future study.
But school life is not just about learning in the classroom- it is the opportunities outside of the classroom that form them most. The sporting, music, drama and activity offering is second to none and it is no surprise our pupils thrive and are so happy.
George Seccombe
Head of Lower School
Lower School is for pupils in Years 7 (LS1) and 8 (LS2). During these two important years, our pupils are supported by a dedicated and talented team of staff who foster intellectual curiosity while helping them build skills and develop their character through our robust academic and co-curricular programmes.
The academic development of pupils is always a top priority, and they benefit from a broad and balanced curriculum that provides a strong foundation while encouraging a passion for curiosity and learning.
We aim to inspire our pupils and ensure they enjoy their academic studies, while also recognising the equal importance of activities beyond the classroom.
Lower School pupils benefit from full access to Haileybury’s outstanding facilities and expertise and are encouraged to explore their interests and take part in the wide variety of co-curricular opportunities available to them.
At Haileybury, our goal is for every pupil to feel known, valued, and understood. The Lower School pupils have access to a dedicated space for Years 7 and 8, where they can build lasting friendships while also becoming familiar with the broader school community.
We are dedicated to ensuring that every pupil leaves Lower School with a strong academic foundation, having explored new interests, talents, and passions both inside and outside the classroom, along with lasting memories and friendships, as they transition into Year 9.
