London Marathon
Four members of the Haileybury community will be pounding the streets of London in April for their chosen charities. Three of the four are from Edmonstone House – Alister Bartholomew (Housemaster), Ian Sheldon (Assistant Housemaster) and James Battersby (U6, Head of House) will all be running. James Battersby, who also took part in the Great North Run in September last year, will be running for the school charity – The Children’s Trust. This is a national charity working with severely brain-damaged children to re-stimulate their senses. They have had tremendous successes and rely totally on charitable donations to support them. Edmonstone will be holding two dinners this term to raise funds for all three chosen charities – 20th February and 6th March. Nicky Huggett (Housemistress of Allenby) will br running on behalf of The Ron Pickering Fund. This a is a local charity run by Ron’s family which gives 100% of all donations in grants to aspiring young sports people to support them in their professional training. Over £350,000 has been raised by the family over the past 10 years.
