Lochinver House pupils take on our Design Technology Challenge
Creative Year 6 pupils from Lochinver House in Potters Bar visited Haileybury recently to take part in a Design Technology Challenge.
Upon arrival in our Design Technology (DT) Department, the pupils were set a challenge to build a replica trebuchet (medieval catapult) out of plywood.
The pieces of the trebuchet had been specially cut using our laser cutter. The boys also had the opportunity to watch our new 3D printer in action, making pieces of ammunition for the trebuchet.
Working in small teams supervised by our Head of DT, Mr Tom Opie, the pupils demonstrated their design and problem solving skills to assemble the objects.
When all the trebuchets had been built, they tested their workmanship to see how far they could fire them.
At Haileybury we offer a range of sporting, academic and co-curricular activities for Years 5 and 6 pupils from prep schools.
