Haileybury’s first Orchestral Day
Talented young musicians from a variety of schools put on a dazzling performance in our first ever Orchestral Day.
The day was a mixture of fun and hard work for the budding musicians, who came from schools including Edge Grove, Duncombe School, Heath Mount, York House, Westbrook Hay, The Hall, Oaklands School, Avon House, Hertingfordbury Cowper Primary School, Coopersale Hall School, Brookmans Park Primary School, Loyola Prep, St Columba's College and Orley Farm School.
The pupils became part of an orchestra and worked together as a team to create some beautiful music. They first split into sections of strings, brass and percussion and woodwind, and were coached by a number of our music teachers.
There was also a compositional group, who observed all of the sectional reheasals, and composed their own unique orchestral piece.
Everyone came together at the end of the day to put what they had learned into practice and perform for parents and teachers.
This included a recital of their wonderful composition, which was performed by Haileybury's music teachers (you can watch this in the video above).
