Haileybury Military Tournament
The Haileybury Military Tournament, an annual event, takes place this Sunday, 3 July from 2pm onwards.
It promises to be a spectacular event, featuring a variety of thrilling and colourful displays and performances from across the country. Set in our beautiful grounds, it will provide three hours of non-stop entertainment for all the family, including military bands, pipes and drums, a free-fall parachute display and much more. In addition to the performances in the arena, there will be static displays, a climbing wall, mini-assault course and a display of military vehicles.
As the only surviving military tournament in the East of England, it is being staged by ABF, The Soldiers’ Charity, the Army’s own national charity, to raise funds for its Current Operations Fund which provides support for serving and former soldiers who have been wounded or injured on operations in Afghanistan, Iraq or any other current theatre of operations, and for the families of those killed.
The principal sponsor for the tournament is Baxterbear who is also the official mascot for the event. Baxterbear has a special link with the Army which goes back to WW2. He takes part in charity work all over the world and will be at Haileybury to met visitors to the tournament.
Tickets can be purchased beforehand via www.haileyburymilitarytournament.com and will also be available on the gate, priced at £20 for adults and £14 for children and pensioners.
