Haileybury girls sing in Ware
Three talented young singers from Haileybury – Sophie Baird, Elizabeth Stock and Sara Walsh – made solo appearances with the local Ware Choral Society on Saturday 7 June. They joined a cast of nationally renowned soloists and a professional orchestra to sing the Angels’ Chorus, Lift Thine Eyes at the Drill Hall in Ware. Sophie Baird also sang a difficult solo part in duet with baritone soloist, Michael George.
Haileybury musicians are now heard regularly within the local community, and the three girls who represented the college at this major concert won great acclaim from conductor Julian Williamson and the packed audience.
The three girls were highly praised in a review of the concert in the Hertfordshire Mercury, which commended them on how "their youthful voices flowing from the balcony provided a welcome rest from the blood and thunder going on down below". Sophie Baird’s solo contribution was also praised for her "control in a most professional manner".
