Haileybury celebrates record-breaking (I)GCSE results
Haileybury is celebrating a landmark year of (I)GCSE results.
We achieved a new record this year, with thirty two percent of the IGCSE grades at A*. In addition, nearly 62% of pupils in the fifth year cohort (year 11) achieved A*- A. A third of all pupils obtained at least nine A*- A grades.
Remarkable individual results include six pupils gaining A* in all their subjects, 2 pupils achieving 100% in Geography and 5 pupils being awarded 100% in Spanish. One particularly strong linguist, who took exams in Spanish, French and Italian, dropped only 7 marks out of a maximum total score of 900 marks across all three languages.
The Master, Joe Davies, commented on the hard work of all the pupils “I’m thrilled to be able to say that it has been another excellent year for our pupils. (I)GCSEs are an important preparation for the start of sixth form and the strong results will give these young minds great confidence in their learning ability. All our pupils should be extremely proud of their success.
The Master continued: “We are seeing the benefits to academic results of strong co-curricular activities, a supportive pastoral boarding environment and two years of focus on our “Haileybury Habits” intelligent learning approach. I am particularly pleased with the performance parity between boys and girls. These great results are also confirmation of the hard work and dedication of our teaching staff at Haileybury, who in partnership with parents, are passionate about supporting our pupils achieve their goals and get the best start in life”.
