GAP Scholarship
Congratulations to joint Head of School, Richard Dimock (B) who has been awarded a GAP Scholarship. This takes the form of a course organised by the Smallpeice Trust, called The Smallpeice Engineering Careers Foundation Year. With only 30 places available on the scheme, the competition for a place was very tough. He will spend the first three months at Plymouth University on a basic engineering course which includes computer-aided design (CAD) and information technology. This is followed by a time in a European Language School in Germany or France studying the language of that country and will finish with a 3 month work placement in that country. Richard is confident that this will give him a very good foundation for a university degree in engineering as it offers him the opportunity to learn some of the theory and at the same time gain experience in the industry in Europe.
