Debaters in East of England Final
Haileybury’s debating first pair of Harry Sheehan (B) and Ben Phillips (Th) reached the East of England final of the ESU Schools’ Mace on Saturday, only narrowly missing a place in the national final. Along the way we beat Oundle, Norwich and St Albans, to name but a few. Both speakers debated wonderfully, but Ben deserves special mention, being the only Fifth to get past the first round of the competition.
The ESU Schools’ Mace is the largest schools’ debating competition in the country. To get this far, Harry and Ben have put themselves in the top 24 pairs in the country.
Well done to them both!
