Award-winning filmmaker Kate Blewett presents The Power of Television, Tuesday 18 September
BAFTA and EMMY award-winning documentary filmmaker Kate Blewett has accepted an invitation from the HPA to visit Haileybury and will speak on the subject of The Power of Television.
Kate will show extracts from her films and talk about how she has used the medium of television to highlight the abuse and neglect of men, women and children across the globe; how her decisions on what to film, how to film it and then how to present her films to maximum effect have brought about positive change.
Kate’s discovery of the conditions in China’s state-run orphanages led to the making of The Dying Rooms, a documentary that caused global outcry and led governments and organisations around the world to challenge the Chinese government. Since then, Kate has worked extensively in over 70 countries, unearthing stories of abuse, exploitation and neglect.
The event will take place in Big School at 7.30pm and all are welcome.
