Adventure Skills camping trip in the woods
Forty-eight Middles (Year 10) pupils spent the night camping in the great outdoors on Sunday 15 October as part of the Adventure Skills programme.
Adventure Skills sees pupils taking on a variety of activities throughout the school year, from navigation and first aid to self-defence and mountain biking.
The pupils set up camp in the tranquil surroundings of Hailey Wood, just adjacent to Haileybury's campus.
They built their own shelters using bivvies to sleep under – taking full advantage of the balmy 18 degrees temperature!
They also lit a camp fire and cooked their own tea and breakfast on stoves.
Next term, the pupils will start preparing for an exciting trip to the Peak District. Similar to the requirements of the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh's Award, it will give them an idea of what this might be like.
