Why study Music at Haileybury?

Studying music at Haileybury offers pupils a unique and enriching educational experience that fosters both personal and artistic growth.

The Music Department is at the heart of school life, providing a diverse range of musical opportunities, from classical ensembles to contemporary bands. This inclusive approach ensures that every pupil, regardless of their musical background, can find a place to express their creativity and develop their talents.

At Haileybury, music is seen as a vital part of the School’s cultural identity, with pupils participating in multiple showcases each year, including chapel choirs, symphony orchestras, and musicals in our stunning performance spaces.

Additionally, the School offers exceptional facilities, including recording studios and individual practice and teaching rooms, alongside opportunities for workshops and masterclasses with professional musicians. This comprehensive support system enables pupils to thrive, whether they aspire to pursue music professionally or simply wish to cultivate a lifelong passion for the arts.

Pupil musicians of the appropriate ability are encouraged to attend junior departments of the Royal College, Royal Academy and Guildhall. Many of our pupils are also members of such national ensembles as the National Youth Orchestra, National Youth Concert Band and National Youth Choirs of Great Britain.
