Why study mathematics at Haileybury?
Haileybury offers a challenging mathematics curriculum designed to develop the critical thinking and problem-solving skills essential for academic success.
The Mathematics Department provides a nurturing environment that supports all pupils and challenges them to reach their potential in the subject. Teachers are passionate and strive to share the joy of mathematics with the pupils.
Academic pathways
Mathematics is compulsory at GCSE level for all pupils.
Mathematics and Further Mathematics are offered as A level courses. Mathematics Analysis and Approaches, and Mathematics Applications and Interpretation are available as International Baccalaureate (IB) courses.
Beyond the curriculum
The Haileybury Maths Society, a pupil-run society, explores interesting mathematics and problem-solving.
The Haileybury Oxbridge Maths Group explores challenging problems and content, with the aim to help pupils prepare for university entrance tests and applications.
Pupils are also encouraged to sit the UK Maths Trust Senior Mathematical Challenge.
