Haileybury pupils explore the globe this half term
An exciting array of trips is taking place this half term – from deep sea diving to glacier walking.
More than 130 pupils are setting off on seven overseas trips, with the aim of adventure, culture and expanding horizons.
Fifty Fifth Form GCSE geographers have travelled to Iceland and are enjoying a packed itinerary including visiting the famous Skógafoss waterfall (pictured).
Iceland is a fantastic place for our GCSE geographers to visit as it is so tectonically youthful and has incredible landscapes.
The pupils will get to see first-hand the topics they are studying in the classroom, including rivers and waterfalls, volcanoes and the benefits of living in hazardous areas.
Twenty-two pupils from the Middles through to the Upper Sixth are going to the tropical climes of the Maldives on a scuba diving trip.
Planned diving destinations include the beautiful Rasdhoo Island, which is best known for its spectacular reef formations and wide variety of marine life.
Some of the pupils have been working through the PADI Open Water Diver course, and this trip will give them the opportunity to complete the certification. Others will do higher level qualifications such as an Advanced Open Water certification, depending on their experience.
Other half term trips include: a group of intrepid pupil explorers setting off on a Himalayaan adventure and tackling the Nepal Annapurna Circuit trek; a team of Haileybury Model United Nations diplomats debating real-life issues in The International School of The Hague; a set of linguists visiting Madrid and practising their Spanish; a bunch of Classicists getting cultural in Sicily; and a number of pupils visiting Uganda to see the work of the Haileybury Youth Trust, our very own charity.
We will keep you posted with trip updates both here on the website and on our social media channels.
Happy travels!
