Radio 4
Tom Williams (Thomason, U6) took part in a Radio 4 debate on "The Learning Curve" programme on Tuesday 29th January. He joined presenters Libby Purvis and Andrew Littlejohn as part of a panel of three students deliberating the merits of GNVQs, the IB and the new AS/A2 system. Tom said, "There wasn’t really time to be nervous. It was very interesting to have the opinions of an Oxford don and a respresentative from the Government as well as the experiences of the other two students." Tom studies the AS/A2 system at Haileybury which, despite the very many merits of the IB, he feels was the right choice for him given his more specialist academic enthusiasms. He simultaneously acknowledged that the greater breadth implicit within the IB Diploma would help the most ambitious to achieve their career goals, competing alongside those from Europe and beyond.
