IB Art students hold successful exhibition
A recent exhibition of work by Haileybury IB Visual Arts students at the Courtyard Arts Centre in Hertford was well received by both the public and an IB examiner who marked the work on display.
This was the first time that Haileybury students had exhibited work in a public gallery and represented the culmination of their coursework for the year.
The students, Sam Small, Anthia Loizos and Nick Goodwille, completed pieces covering a variety of media in 2D and 3D. They each exhibited 12 pieces of work, ranging from installation pieces to work on canvas.
The examiner, Richard Canton, spent an hour with each pupil at the exhibition, during which time they talked about their IB Art experience and showed him their work. Art teacher Sarah Beales says he was impressed with both the venue and the pieces.
The interesting variety of work – including photography, still life, collage, bas relief, ceramics, several large oil/acrylic canvases of nudes from the life classes and charcoal – attracted a number of members of the public.
A spokesperson from the gallery said the exhibition was very well received and well attended by many people of all ages.
