Four U15 lacrosse players invited to county trials
The U15 lacrosse team competed in a county tournament on Saturday, putting in a very credible performance to end third in its pool.
The squad made some real progress in its unit play, especially in its defence which was commented upon by the selectors. This was in no small way due to the efforts of Charis Bridgman-Baker who was voted Most Valuable Player by the coaches present. Other star performances were on display from Kara Stone, an intercepting genius, Lucy Philips, an inspired attacker, and an impressive début from Maya Brankovic. These four players were all invited to further trials for Hertfordshire County, a solid compliment indeed.
The highlight of the morning came after a disappointing result in the match against Berkhamstead, who went on to win the tournament, when the team rallied admirably. The lessons learned in that first game were taken on board and our girls went on to beat St. Margaret’s Bushy 4-1. Despite only having limited time to prepare for this early challenge, the girls are stronger for it and are looking forward to their next match.
