2004 Festival of Art opens
Haileybury’s annual Festival of Art, which celebrates the talents of artists of all ages and raises funds for the Isabel Hospice, opened to great fanfare on Wednesday.
Dozens of people from the local community came to see a wide range of exhibits in assorted media, from watercolour painting to welded metal sculpture. The setting of the venue, the Attlee Room, provided an intimate atmosphere which set off the work to its best advantage.
The chair of the Isobel Hospice, John Lockhart, commented that the work on show looked great, and he was inspired to buy a lovely oil study.
It was a most successful evening and hopefully an indicator of things to come over the next few days. The Festival runs until Sunday, 21 November. Admission is free and it will be open to the public from 12 noon to 8pm on Friday and Saturday and 11am to 2pm on Sunday.
