Choir into final 3 of BBC Songs of Praise
The 35-strong Haileybury Chapel Chamber Choir has once again been named as a finalist in the competition to find the BBC Songs of Praise School Choir of the Year 2005. This is the second year in a row that the choir has reached the final three in this national competition.
Says Haileybury Director of Music, Peter Davis: "I am absolutely delighted that we have made the finals once again, and it is a great tribute to all the pupils’ hard work in preparing for the first two rounds of the competition. We have a terrific bunch of great singers in the school at present, and it’s wonderful that their talents have received national recognition."
The final of the competition will take place at Symphony Hall in Birmingham on Saturday, 26 February 2005, with the competition judging taking place in the morning, and a filmed public concert in the afternoon. Extracts from the competition and concert will be broadcast in a special Song of Praise programme in March, focusing on the senior competition, along with a short film the BBC will be making about Haileybury.
