Haileybury hosts U11 hockey festival

In a Prep Schools U11 Hockey Festival hosted by Haileybury last Sunday, Edge Grove and Woodford Green Prep ended up being declared joint winners.

The four away teams were Edge Grove, Barnardistan Hall, Woodford Green Prep and St Paul’s Cathedral School. Our own Lower School put out an U12 team.

The matches were played as a round robin and Woodford Green Prep beat St Paul’s and Barnardistan to qualify outright for the final. Edge Grove and the Haileybury Lower School both won a match each but on goal difference the Lower School team should have gone through. However, the boys very kindly allowed Edge Grove to go through in what was a very noble gesture.

The final went to extra time with no side scoring so it was decided that both teams should be declared joint winners!
