LS netball players continue their winning streak
Lower School’s netball players continued their winning ways yesterday during the Lea Valley tournament.
The A team drew 3-3 with Broxbourne in the final for joint first place, while the B team beat Presdales in the semi-finals and Broxbourne in the final to win.
"This is a fantastic opportunity for our girls to play against the local large state schools who are generally very strong in netball, and we are very proud of their achievements," says Karen Andrew, head of girls’ games.
This news comes after an outstanding season this term both in hockey and netball.
Lower School 2’s netball team have developed well and had good results recently. They came second in their group at the Felsted netball tournament, behind Felsted who were the overall winners. This was a large tournament for schools throughout the East of England. They also beat Bancrofts during the term, which was a great outcome as Bancrofts boast several netball club players.
The hockey team ended the season well as winners of the Lea Valley tournament for Years 8s held at Presdales.
Lower School 1 have gone from strength to strength this term, with neither the A nor the B teams having lost a match in both hockey and netball. They have beaten schools such as Felsted, Dame Alice Harpur and St. Faiths but the biggest victory for the A team was against Ralph Sadlier early on in the term. They had already played them at netball early in the Christmas term and were beaten by well-drilled club players. This did not worry our team when they played them again and they proved too strong in the final quarter, beating Ralph Sadlier by 2 goals.
The Lea Valley hockey tournament for Year 7s, hosted by Haileybury, was also very successful for our players as both teams won their competition. They finished their season on a high, thrashing Bancrofts 6-1 (A team) and 4-1 (B team).
Congratulations to Lower School!
