Jamie George in Four Nations tournament
Fifths Jamie George (BFr), who was selected for the England Under 16 rugby squad last term, performed well in the inaugural Four Nations tournament, based in the Midlands, during the Easter holidays.
The first game was against Wales and Jamie, who plays hooker, was selected to start in that game. The England team played superbly, beating Wales 32-10, which is a record win for England against Wales. The rules of the tournament dictated that every boy in the 26-man squad had to start a game, so the other hooker started against France. However, Jamie was brought on to play in the second half. The game was a much tighter one, but England managed to win 13-10. In the last game, against Italy, he was selected to start the game which proved to be a very physical encounter although England came through to win 23-5.
"It was a fantastic experience, and I sampled life as a top-class professional player for the 10 days of the tournament, staying in the team hotel and enjoying aspects such as ice baths after the games!" says Jamie.
