7 GCSE pupils achieve 10 or more A* grades
Haileybury is delighted that the 2007 GCSE candidates have produced the school’s best ever results, following the A Level and IB Diploma pupils having done equally well one week earlier. The entire community is delighted by this outcome, which reflects great commitment on the part of both pupils and their teachers.
61.1% of entries were awarded one of the top two grades A* or A. This is an improvement of more than 5% on the previous year and better than the previous record of 60.5% in 2004.
Seven pupils achieved ten or more A* grades. They are: Michael Clarke (K), Amy Gandon (H), Livia Bridgman Baker (C), Oliver Winters (L), Rupert Flint Cahan (K), Charles Richards (Th) and Elizabeth Brown (M).
Daniele Guerrieri (L), Bethany Taylor (Alb), Gregory Newman (L) and Lauren Wainwright (Aby) were also high achievers. Among the other top students were: Clementine Reed (H) with 8 A*s and two As; Alice Clough (Alb) with 8 A*s, 3 As and 1 B; Alexandra Zetter with 7 A*s, 3 As and1 B; Mary Bird (Aby) with 8 A*s, 2 As and 1 B; Elliot Pannaman (E) with 7 A*s, 2 As and 2 Bs; Stephanie Loveland (C) with 6 A*s and 4 As; Nicholas Polley (E) with 7 A*s and 3 As; Caroline Horwich (C) with 6 A*s and 5 As; James Turing (E) with 6 A*s and 5 As; Freddie Spearman (K) with 6 A*s, 4 As and 1 B; and Sophie Shepherd (C) with 6 A*s, 3 As and 1 B.
The Master, Stuart Westley, said this record performance, and the proportion of top grades having risen from 40% to over 60% since the year 2000, was clear evidence that the school is succeeding in its aim to be recognised as providing a first class academic education for its pupils in addition to a very broad range of other activities.
Congratulations to all the pupils.
