New Master announced
Mr James Selwyn Davies MA has been appointed as the new Master of Haileybury from September 2009. This follows the retirement of the current Master, Stuart Westley, at the end of the Summer Term 2009.
Mr Davies is currently Headmaster of Sutton Valence School in Maidstone, Kent. Mr Davies, who is 51 years of age, was educated at Christ College, Brecon and St John’s College, Cambridge, where he read history and received a blue for Rugby football. Before taking up his present post in 2001, he taught at Tonbridge for 14 years, after which he moved to St John’s Leatherhead, where he was Deputy Headmaster.
In a statement, Mr George Staple, the Chairman of Council, said: "The Council has every confidence that Haileybury’s strong performance in recent years, both academically and in many co-curricular activities, will grow even stronger under Mr Davies’s leadership, and we look forward to welcoming him and his family to Haileybury next year."
