U15 cricketers play their own 'Ashes'
A select band of cricketers, forming the best unit of all Haileybury’s Under 15 players, took on the might of the Ivanhoe GS from Melbourne and thus created our own "school-level Ashes"!
The game saw ball win over the bat for the most part, with some impressive bowling from both sides. Sam Boothby (Tr) returned 4 for 16 off 8 overs and, with support from the other bowlers, Ivanhoe GS were held to 129 for 7 in 40 overs.
Haileybury faltered somewhat in reply and at 46 for 6, there seemed a long way to go. Ryan O’Leary (E) and Luke Frey (Th) put on a fabulous 75 run stand and victory came our way with six balls to spare. It was an exciting and tense encounter, enjoyed enormously by all those involved.
