Sporting honours for Sam and Jamie
Sam Billings has been included in the England Under 18 cricket squad to tour India next February.
This follows his selection for an elite player development squad in which he was enrolled in a two-week pressure training camp based in Shrewsbury. The camp was run by a former Major of the Counter Terrorist Branch of the SAS.
Meanwhile, rugby star Jamie George has been invited to play for the Steele-Bodgers XV against Cambridge University next Wednesday, 26 November at Grange Road in Cambridge. His cousin, Tom, who is an OH, will also be in the team.
The Steele Bodger’s XV are an invitation XV put together by Mickey Steele Bodger, the ex-England International and current President of the Barbarians Rugby Club, to play against Cambridge University in their penultimate game before the Varsity match at Twickenham.
It is a huge honour for Jamie and the rugby staff at Haileybury are at a loss to remember when a schoolboy, especially a front row forward, was last afforded this honour.
