First performance of the Haileybury Instrumental Competition
Last night saw the start of the first Haileybury Instrumental Competition. The night was a great success with some excellent performances given. The evening was adjudicated by Jerry Harrison, one of Haileybury's peripatetic guitar teachers, and Head of Strings, Claire Tomsett.
Samuel Tyler (LS) and Polina Gordovich (Aby) received highly commended awards, while three pupils in the junior category – Claire Burgess (Aby), Georgina McKenna (LS) and Sophie Ritchie (M) – and three in the senior – Clara Johnston (M), Menchen Chen (Alb) and Harry McVicar (BFr) – will progress to the final on 2 March.
Congratulations to everyone who participated.
