Ian Robertson opens Modern Languages Centre
Ian Robertson, BBC sports journalist and former Scottish rugby national, today officially opened Haileybury’s new £2,2 million Modern Languages Centre.
Mr Robertson was joined by hundreds of other guests for the unveiling of the plaque. In a highly amusing speech, he made reference to current and former England rugby players and their use – or misuse – of languages and spoke of the importance of being able to speak another language.
After the speeches, guests were invited to tour the building, watch language classes in action and hear pupils performing pieces of international music from countries as diverse as China, Kazakhstan, Mexico and Cuba.
