Head of Art exhibits at London Design Festival
Haileybury’s Head of Art, Jason Marks, will be exhibiting some of his pieces at Designersblock in London between 23 and 26 September. The expo takes place over five floors in and around Bargehouse at Oxo Tower Wharf on the South Bank during the London Design Festival.
The exhibition includes the latest work from over 100 of the most exciting emerging and established designers from the UK and around the world.
One of the pieces Jason is exhibiting is his "Gothic Roller". "I have always been bedazzled by symmetry," he explains. "I love the merging of art, craft and mathematics that one sees in the encaustic tiles of medieval cathedrals. By applying CADCAM techniques, including algorithmic processing to traditional ceramic processes, I am able to map traditional designs onto and into new forms. My intention here is to place these designs beyond the spaces of religion and ritual, and to see their beauty in the more comfortable and playful setting of the domestic interior. Indeed, these are playful objects, they are unstable, mobile and they invite inquisition."
Each piece is made from ceramic and is 20cm x 20cm x 20cm.
Entry is £5 at the door or free with pre-registration by 22 September at www.verydesignersblock.com.
