OH Antonio wins a Purple
Congratulations to Old Haileyburian Antonio Infantino who has been awarded a full Purple by Kings College London, where he is studying Philosophy.
The university awards Purples and Half Purples for competition at the highest level of university sport, in a similar way to Oxford and Cambridge Blues. These are taken to be the equivalent of Blues at other universities.
Antonio’s achievement follows his success on the athletics track. He recently represented his university at the BUCS Indoor Athletics Championships in the 200m, coming away with a silver medal. He won his heat in a time of 21.86, a new indoor personal best (PB).
He was drawn in the second semi-final of five semis and ran another indoor lifetime best of 21.64 and qualified fastest of the day through to the final. He managed another lifetime best performance in the final with a time of 21.54. He led the final and was just pipped to the line by GB International Luke Lennon Ford, who ran 21.44.
Antonio was extremely pleased with this performance as this was his first 200m senior race and his first senior medal. He is ranked 7th in the UK senior men 200m.
He is on the elite sports programme at Kings.
