Haileybury boys are Herts Sevens champs!
Haileybury are the Hertfordshire Under 18 7s Champions!
In almost ideal conditions the team, who were shorn of Captain Toby Saysell and 1st XV centre Jesse Waites through injury, rose to every challenge set them. The team played some excellent sevens during the day.
In the group stage, they scored over 140 points and only conceded 19. St Columba’s proved tricky opposition in the quarter final where we scraped through 21-17. This was the wake-up call the team needed, as they then powered through Tring (41-19) in the semi-final before saving their best sevens for the Final where they overcame Oaklands College, the academy partners of Premiership giant Saracens 38-12, to lift the trophy.
The team was very ably led by Sam King (E), and particular mention should go to Okemdi Chukwu (Th) and Toby King (E), who are both Fifths and are having their first season representing the School at senior level.
