Yearling A football team go unbeaten
This term, the Yearlings A Football team, led by captain Freddie Walker, have won six out of eight matches and drawn the other two.
The season started with a 9-0 win away at Oakham and hatricks for William Vooght and Israel Okeowo. The goals were not as free flowing in the second game, away at Berkhampstead, which ended 2-2.
Vooght grabbed his second hatrick of the season during a 5-0 win over Abingdon and this started a 4 game winning streak; 1-0 at home to Wymondham College, 2-0 away at St Johns Leatherhead and 2-0 away at St Albans. Peter Spellman – who was awarded coach’s player of the season – scored both the goals against St Albans.
Despite taking the lead twice, and largely outplaying them, we could not put enough distance between ourselves and Harrow to secure the win we deserved. The game ended 2-2. Determined to finished the season on a high, we rallied and, in our final game, beat King’s Ely 8-0 with goals from seven different scorers.
Having only conceded four goals all season, the defence – consisting of Kieran Gale, James Dolbear, Christian Wilson, Jason Addison and Alessio Young – deserve a special mention as does Jarvis Nutt who was voted Player’s Player of the season by his team mates.
