Exceptional Result for Haileybury International Baccalaureate Student
We are pleased to announce that one of our pupils achieved the maximum points possible in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma. Paul Ziesler, 18, scored the top mark of 45 points following a re-mark of one of his papers. This takes Paul into an elite group of just 120 students around the world who have achieved this exceptional level of academic success out of a total of 130,000 who took the qualification this summer.
Commenting on Paul’s outstanding success, Deputy Head (Academic) Simon Smith said: “ We are delighted that Paul has excelled at this demanding qualification and we wish him continuing success as he intends to go on to study medicine at the University of Freiburg in his native Germany. The IB Diploma requires pupils to display a range of skills, knowledge and understanding that makes them accomplished thinkers and university students. These qualities make the IB an attractive option for pupils and the numbers taking the qualification at Haileybury have increased by 50% over the past 3 years."
Simon continued: “I extend my warmest congratulations to Paul and all of our IB pupils for their hard work and enthusiasm which is being recognised in this year’s results. Once again our results place us in the top 10 of IB schools in the UK, according to the Times newspaper with our 47 IB Diploma pupils achieving an average of more than 36 points. This is the equivalent of pupils achieving A*A*A*B, and significantly above the global average of 29.8 points. Well done to everyone, including the teachers who supported our pupils in gaining such fantastic results.”
