30 years of Haileybury MUN
This weekend, Haileybury celebrated a remarkable milestone as we hosted our 30th annual Model United Nations (MUN) conference.
From humble beginnings with fewer than 100 attendees, our event has grown to become the largest school-based MUN conference in the UK, and this year, we welcomed over 850 delegates from around the world.
Model United Nations conferences provide a fantastic opportunity for pupils to enhance their debating skills, deepen their understanding of international affairs, and build confidence. In these dynamic events, pupils take on the role of UN delegates, representing different countries and engaging in discussions within various committees. At Haileybury, we are especially proud of the fact that our MUN conference is primarily pupil-led, providing excellent opportunities for pupils to develop their leadership skills.
As part of the anniversary celebrations, the conference highlighted Haileybury’s rich history and enduring international connections. The event featured contributions from the Haileybury Youth Trust, Haileybury Turnford, who proudly won their first award last year, and Haileybury Malta, who attended for the first time this year.
