2-1 win against Habs for 1st XI
1st XI v Haberdashers WON 2-1 (Tivey, Stanyard)
After a lethargic opening five minutes, the 1st XI woke up and strung together a razor sharp 25 minutes of hockey. Josh Alibhai was particularly to the fore and threaded a lightening bolt pass to Dom Tivey to deflect in for the stunning opener. Charlie Carr was dynamism personified, confident on the ball and wisely distributing percentage passes. Will Stanyard kept up his scoring vein and slotted a second from the inside right channel. Several other gilt-edged chances were spurned though and despite playing some mesmeric hockey up until half time, 2-0 up left Habs in with a sniff.
In the second half, a scrappy short corner concession meant the final 15 minutes were played in tense circumstances and thus the quality of play was not able to match the heights of the first half, but Luke Anthony and Ed Graves showed calm and composure and led the side to a thoroughly impressive win.
