GCSE pupils at Haileybury have again achieved outstanding results, with 97% achieving A* - C grades (including IGCSE results), up from 96.1% last year. Of the 119 candidates, 60.6% of pupils achieved A or A* grades.
99.1% of pupils received 5 A* - C grades (excluding Maths and English) while an overall pass rate of 100% was achieved.
Olamide Akin-Olugbade (C), Polina Gordovich (Aby), George Hudson (Tr) and Aran Shaunak (B) were the best achievers, with 10 A*s each. Jacob Simon Lam (L) and Benedict Phillips (Th) were awarded 9 A*s each, while Hannah Russell (H), Samuel Webb (Th) and Mollie Mendoza (C) obtained 8 A*s.
Victoria Hart (C), Edward Graves (L), Penelope Richards (H), Philippa Sheehan (C), Benjamin Balmforth (BFr), Emma Boyd (Aby), James Cura (Tr) and Rosemary Jenkins (Alb) gained 7 A*s.
Joseph Hipkiss (B), George Garthwaite (Th), Josie Chubb (M), Alice Billings (Aby), Gabrielle Kerrison (H), Samrita Mudher (Aby) and Harold Meek (Tr) obtained 6 A*s.
Michael Whitaker (BFr), Sophie Simmonds (Aby), William Southwell (Tr) and Adriana Zurita (M) obtained 5 A*s; Samuel King (E), Hugh Clough (K), Luke Anthony (B), Lewis Colson (Th), Jessica Horne (C), Andreas Payne (K), George Downes (B), Clara Songaila (C) and Tobias Saysell (K) obtained 4 A*s.
These results are on the back of Haileybury’s best ever International Baccalaureate and A Level pass rate, reflecting the culture of high standards, hard work and intellectual curiosity that pervades the school.
"Taking the iGCSE results into account, the percentage of pupils gaining five A* - C grades is excellent, while the number achieving A or A* is on a par with last year. This is a wonderful achievement by all our pupils and is proof of the hard work and dedication put in by both pupils and staff," says the Master of Haileybury, Joe Davies.
“These results show the pupils have the necessary work ethic and love of learning to tackle the challenges of study in the Sixth Form, be they A Levels or the IB Diploma Programme,” he adds.
Haileybury's Sixth Formers have turned out the best set of results the school has ever seen, with 85% of A Level and International Baccalaureate (IB) pupils achieving A* - B grades in their recent exams, compared to 81% last year. In addition, of the 136 candidates, 18% achieved the A* grade, the government's new grade which is designed to reward the top academic achievers. This compares to a national average of 8%.
The percentage of A* - C grades is 93,1% while Haileybury's overall pass rate is 99,7%, up from 99% last year.
Greg Carton, Craig Hawes and Rosie Woodcock were the best performers, with four A*s each. Natchai Kanathanavanich achieved three A*s and an A while Charles Gratton, Rhiannon Ludlow and Oliver Phillpott each achieved two A*s and two As.
This academic excellence comes after 71,2% of the Higher Level grades obtained in this year's IB results were the prestigious 6 or 7, while 69,7% of Standard Level scores were also at those top grades. The average points score was 37.2 out of a possible 45 - also the best results achieved since Haileybury introduced the IB more than 10 years ago.
The results mean that Haileybury boasts four pupils accepted into Oxbridge colleges for September 2010.
The Master of Haileybury, Joe Davies, says: "Obviously, we are thrilled with the results from all our Sixth Form pupils. They demonstrate the high level of commitment that both pupils and staff have to achieving the best they can."
International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB) pupils from Haileybury have produced the best set of results since the School began offering the IB, with an average points score of 37.3 out of a maximum of 45. The second best year was in 2008, when the average points score was 35.9.
Three pupils - Susannah Carr, Johanna Hockmann and Paula Hubner - scored 43 points, while 12 scored 40 or more. 40 points equates to 5 A grades at A Level on the UCAS points tariff. Twenty eight out of the 44 candidates scored 36 points or more.
In addition, the results of the Theory of Knowledge and Extended Essay sections of the Diploma were excellent – 30 candidates out of 44 scored 2 or 3 of the 3 points available.
The Master of Haileybury, Joe Davies, says: "These are excellent results and reflect tremendous credit on the ability and determination of the candidates in the demanding IB Diploma Programme, which they have studied over the past two years. These results also show the dedication of the teaching staff who have guided and supported the pupils in their studies."

Best-selling children's author Nick Toczek wove his own brand of magic for scores of children who attended yesterday's Haileybury 2010 Prep and Primary Schools Festival of Art. Heath Mount from Watton-at-Stone won the Schools' Prize in the Painting and Drawing category, while St Martin's, from Northwood in Middlesex, won the Creative Writing Competition.
Kingshott's Dylan Cox was the overall individual winner in the Painting and Drawing category, with Year 3 pupil from Lochinver House, William Lanstone, astounding the judges with his talent in the Creative Writing Competition.
The theme of the day was myths, mysteries and magic, which made Nick Toczek the perfect guest of honour seeing as he is a full-time professional writer and performer who works variously as a poet, magician, storyteller, puppeteer, novelist, creative writing tutor and journalist. He enthralled a selection of pupils from six schools earlier in the day when he read some of his own poems, weaving in a few magic tricks and sharing some of his successful writing techniques.
The six schools then came together to rehearse a performance of The Dragons Cantata, composed by Malcolm Singer and written by Nick, which was later performed in front of a 500-strong audience made up of the prize winners, pupils and parents.
Haileybury's own Head of English, Nigel Parkin, performed The Boy Who Never Grew Up to the strains of a full orchestra, conducted by Quentin Thomas, Director of Music at Haileybury.

Congratulations to OH Jamie George, who yesterday captained the England Under 21 rugby side to victory against France in the IRB Junior World Championships being held in Argentina.
George said after the match: "It was a tough game but we always knew it was going to be that against a strong French side; they broke us down well but showing the heart we showed in that game was a massive thing ahead of the semi final and we've got to take confidence from that.
"Our line got broken a couple of times but French teams with their flair are always going to do something like that. We stuck to our systems and played the game we wanted to play, we improved on the mistakes we were making in the first half and I'm massively proud of the boys".
